Located in one of Ayvalik’s prettiest streets, this hotel takes its name from the Taksiyarhis (Archangel) Church next door. Of the hotels in this book, it is undoubtedly the most unusual. Two old Ayvalik houses were joined, creating a strange labyrinth. No two rooms are the same. Every corner is bursting with creativity.

Hundreds of objects from all over the world are distributed at random around the place: antiques, millstones, earthenware jars, sandals… Kilims and cushions complete the unusual décor, creating a sense of comfort and informality. Some might, however, find it untidy. This is no ordinary hotel. You take off your shoes upon entering. The bathroom is shared. Limited insulation further reinforces the sense of communality.
