Tucked away in a quiet corner of Göcek, Yonca Resort feels more like a summer residence than a hotel. It is a friendly and civilised little place, under new management this year. Even on the busiest days, all you hear is the sound of crickets.

The nicest part is the garden, overflowing with dozens of plants. It is well on its way to turning into a jungle. Bougainvilleas almost smother the building, their magenta flowers conferring a distinct Mediterranean feel. There is a nice pool, and a shaded patio. The rooms, furnished with well-chosen antique pieces, are very inviting. The walls are covered with dozens of pictures, paintings and ethnic masks. There isn’t an inch of empty space, but this “maximalist” approach to interior decoration contributes to the homey atmosphere.
