In good old times the well-to-do of Safranbolu used to keep a winter home in town and a summer home in the suburbs. Some of the finest old konaks of Safranbolu are actually to be found in the garden suburb of Baglar ("Orchards"), about 3 km up the hill from centre, though most modern-day visitors miss this bit completely.

The Rasitler House stands in a particularly green corner of Baglar, next to the old public watermill. It is a stately and sober old house, renovated in good conservative taste by the current owner, a retired air force officer with a friendly glint in the eyes. The interior features all the heart-warming details of grandmothers house - overstuffed sofas with hand-embroidered armsleeves, walnut tables from before the Great War, and faded family photos in sepia. The bathrooms are fitted in cupboards. A big plus, on the other hand, is the large and peaceful garden shaded by an old walnut tree.
