Comfortable, friendly hotel in "boutique" style in the heart of Gocek. B is for Birkan, a great hulk of a man who seems to delight every one of his guests with his relaxed, slightly bumbling hospitality. He started out as an engineer in the yuppielands of Istanbul, then became a yacht captain and decided to settle in Göcek, the boating capital of the Turkish Riviera. His spit-and-polish Harley-Davidson stands at the gate.

His hotel is on the Main Street of Göcek, an uncrowded, pleasant thoroughfare lined with good pubs and antique shops. There is a bijou pool in the front yard, good for a daily dip, and a café-bar where you can grab a quick lunch and beer. Rooms are functional and supplied with all the basic comforts. It is a convenient place to spend a couple of days before or after a sailing excursion.
